The Dragons Are Back... And This Time in Blackwork!!!

Hi there guys, hope we're all well!

Last time I suggested that I might consider doing my Toothless logo in blackwork.  Well, I did, and here he is:

The colours are slightly different to the cross-stitch one I posted last month, as I wanted his false tail fin to be in red, like it is in the film.

This was really quick to chart and I managed to stitch him in just over a week!

If you'd like to try this one instead (or as well) as the cross-stitch one, I've uploaded the pattern to "Blackwork" folder on BOX.net.

So that's all I have for now.  I have another pattern ready to go so I'll try and get that posted this week.

Till then...keep Kalm and cross-stitch! xxx

+NEW PATTERN+ The Dragons Are Coming!!!

Hello again, hope you've all had a great weekend!

Mine is almost at an end, but before I start thinking about bed, and work tomorrow, there's just time for another new pattern! (see, I told you I was on a roll at the moment)!!!

One of my favourite movie franchise's is DreamWorks "How to Train Your Dragon".  I saw the first film in 3D, which was really cool, and I love the spin off cartoons; Riders and Defenders of Berk. I can't wait for the new series to start, but I need to get myself a Netflix account first though!

Last year, the sequel came out.  I didn't see this in 3D, but it was still stunning.  The animation has obviously evolved in 4 years, and anyone who's seen it will know, it's more grown up than the first film, and is a little sad towards the end (I cried)!

I've been meaning for sometime to do something crafty with this franchise, either with a cross-stitch chart or a Toothless crochet toy.  The latter is still on my "to do" list, but I can at least cross off the cross-stitch pattern:

The silhouette form of Toothless is, I think, now what they you use for the Berk crest and hangs over the entrance to the Training Academy in the cartoons.  I actually found the reference image online.  It was advertising the new film, with the slogan "New Dragons are Coming - 4th July 2014" (I think that's the US release date, cause it came out in June in the UK!)  Anyway, I thought it was cool and added it to my list of patterns to chart.

As you know, my charting has been on hold for a while, especially since I had my carpal tunnel release surgery.  I've now had  the all clear, and although I still get some pain (my tendons are still healing), I have been able to start charting again (HUZZAH)!

Of course, the fact that summer is on the way and we get better daylight at this time of year also helps, and is less strainful on the eyes :D

I'm thinking this might make a good blackwork project, and if it goes well, I'll post the pattern for that too.

For now, this pattern can be found in the "Film & TV" folder over on BOX.net.

So wherever you are in the world, enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Till next time ... keep Kalm and cross-stitch :) xxx
