Chikorita San ... DONE!!!

Well it only took me 45 minutes to finish the remaining backstitching last night, and now she is done.

I have to say that I am seriously impressed with how it turned out -- think I will definitely be getting it framed!

Please also view at my deviantART site here:

Totodile and Cyndaquil are both in the pipeline, but I have so many projects waiting to be done, as well as having no money for fabric, threads etc... that it might be a while before these get done!

Chikorita San -- Final WIP!!!

Yes folks, the finish line is almost in sight now!!!

I got the logo done last night and started the backstitch.  Would love to have finished this last night, but it was one in the morning when I 'downed needles'!

However, with the end in sight, I shall be working on this tonight!

Expect to see the finished article either tomorrow or Tuesday!

Chikorita San - WIP #03

First up, ignore my previous post -- DA is okay again, must have been a server issue!

Nows it's time for another update on Chikorita, and I must apologise for not posting sooner, but it's been a tough couple of days and I 've been finding it hard to stitch.

Anyway, I've finished the fills on her body and I'ved started on the background logo which should be finished tonight ...

Chikorita San - WIP #02

Well, can you believe it -- another Chikorita update!!!

Sunday nights are also CSI night on digital channel FiveUSA -- after I had watched that stupid twit Kerry Katona finally get booted off Dancing on Ice and got up to date with Sons of Anarchy, that is!

Of course, this gives me another opportunity to sit at the frame and do some more of Chikorita!

The leaf is now complete and I have started working down the body.  Unless I decide to have a break to start my next large project, this should be finished reasonably quickly!

Chikorita San - WIP #01

Well I didn't expect to update again so soon, but given that Saturday night is CSI night, I managed to get a few hours at the frame whilst watching my favourite crime series!

And this project is proving so lovely to stitch too...

Just in case you are wondering what materials I am using, here's a list:

  • 14-HPI vintage-green aida
  • Anchor stranded cotton
  • Caron Wildflowers
  • DMC Colour Variations

And here's what I did last night:

The blackwork fills are worked in varying thickness of thread. For example the leaf at the top is worked along the bottom edge in 3 strands of #244 - the middle section that I am doing now is a blend of 1 strand each #242 and # 244. The top part will be 1 strand #242.

The eyes are done in half cross-stitch, using both 2 and 1 strand to add shading.

And yes, you will notice that I am working 2 areas at once!

This afternoon, I shall be working on my Mario Kart sprites, but I shall be at the frame tonight to do some more whilst I watch Dancing on Ice and catch up with Sons of Anarchy!

See, I watch far too much TV, and people often ask me how I managed to stitch and watch TV at the same time!  Quite easily, I say ... they just seem to go hand in hand.  Oh, that and a nice cup of Costa coffee and a large chocolate bar ... LOL ^^

Ambitious Blackwork Project #4

So I'm triple posting today -- sorry for spamming your inboxes!

Here is my next ambitious blackwork project, which was actually designed before my ShinRa Logo (but I wanted to do that one first)!

This design features one of my favourite Pokemon characters -- Chikorita!

A lot of people are making Pokemon sprites left right and centre - a few people over on the Sprite Stitch forums were even planning to stitch all 493 creatures!!!!  That was of course before Black/White was announced and as yet, the only pattern of a new critter I've seen is Missy Tannenbaum's Oshawott, which you can download from her blog.

I don't intend to make Pokemon sprites for my website, given the vast numbers of patterns already circulating. Instead, I design larger patterns which I may or may not give the patterns away for (it depends how I feel).

Chikorita is actually the third large Pokemon design I have done (the others are Lugia and Ho-oh) but this is the first one done completely in Blackwork.  I started it a few days ago and this is what I have done so far:

As always, there will be further work in progress updates as and when but I plan to work this in tandem with another large project so they may not be as frequent as the ShinRa Logo posts!

***

On a side note, going back to Pokemon, I am sure that there are loads of people out there looking forward to the new games!  I plan to purchase 'White' first, but I know I can't afford it when it comes out on the 4th March as my finances are a bit rubbish at the moment :-(

Of the three new starters, I quite like 'Snivy' but I'm sure they'll all have some pretty neat moves and evolutions.  Another cool beastie worth a mention is 'Cofagrigus' which I can't help thinking reminds me of 'Anakaris' from Capcom's Darkstalkers!

We're too funky for your squad!!!!

Whatever you think, I'm sure that we'll all be trying to 'catch them all' all over again, in a few weeks time!

I'm startin to ramble, so now is a good time to sign off.

See you all again ... very soon! xxx
